PURPOSE: To acknowledge and honor outstanding technologists in cytogenetics and molecular genetic technology. This award program contributes to the growth of genetic technology as a profession by recognizing individuals with superior professional success.

ELIGIBILITY:

    1. Applicants must be members of the Association of Genetic Technologists.
    2. Must have at least four years of experience in a cytogenetics or molecular genetics laboratory.
    3. Must be NCA certified.

DOCUMENTATION:

A short abstract of particular genetic interest to you or your work. NO FAXES WILL BE ACCEPTED.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

1. Quality of abstract.

2. Outstanding professional performance (i.e. published work or research pertinent to your field, awards or recognition received, etc.).

3. Evidence of outstanding contribution to the profession of cytogenetics or diagnostic molecular genetics.

4. Initiative.

AWARD:

    1. The number of awards granted annually will be determined by the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Genetic Technology, and will be based on available funds and the number of nominees who meet the criteria of the award.
    2. The Foundation for Genetic Technology Genome Award consists of $500.00 to help pay meeting expenses, including registration, for the AGT Annual Meeting.
    3. Selection of award recipients will be made by a Panel of Reviewers
    4. Decisions made by the Panel of Reviewers will be final and deliberations or decisions will not be disclosed.

 

 

 

 

NOTIFICATION:

1. The award recipients will be notified by phone by the Chair of the Awards & Scholarships Committee with a confirmation letter to follow.

2. Nominees not selected will be notified by letter and will be congratulated for having been nominated.

3. The monetary award and certificate will be presented to the award recipient at the Annual Meeting of the Association of Genetic Technologists.
